Florida athletic director Scott Strickland said the University of Georgia ‘seems committed’ on continuing the Bulldogs’ annual rivalry game with Florida in Jacksonville past its current contract.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has lamented on the idea in the past, claiming the neutral site game is bad for recruiting for the Bulldogs and would rather play its home game of the Cocktail Party between the hedges of Sanford Stadium.

But with the two sides now allowing recruits to travel to Jacksonville starting this upcoming year, Strickland believes it will stay in Jacksonville for the foreseeable future.

“My counterpart at the University of Georgia (athletic director Josh Brooks) seems committed to keeping the game in Jacksonville based on our conversations,” Stricklin said via DawgNation. “Because of the tradition and the fact that the schools benefit financially from having the game in Jacksonville, I would be surprised if it ever moved.”

The current contract for the Cocktail party expires after the 2023 contest.
