Florida adds analyst from in-state rival to off-field staff
Florida has bolstered its staff with the addition of former Florida State OL coach Greg Frey.
Florida State coach Willie Taggart announced in February that the team would part ways with Frey. Frey coached just one season at FSU as he came on for Taggart’s first staff. The line struggled, but Noles 247 reported that he lacked true offensive tackles on the roster. Josh Newberg reported that Frey would have an off-field analyst role with the Gators.
Frey was on FSU’s first national championship team in 1993. He’s previously coached the offensive line at USF (2000-06), West Virginia (2007), Indiana (2011-16) and Michigan (2017).
Got direct confirmation that former FSU OL coach Greg Frey has accepted an offer to join the Gators staff in an off field role as an analyst. Big get. A proven coach and recruiter coming over from a rival with something to prove.
