Florida announces sell out crowd ahead of Kentucky game
Florida men’s basketball will have a packed house when Kentucky comes to town on Jan. 6 for the SEC home opener.
The Gators are off to a good start and the fans are starting to take notice. Florida is 9-3 heading into its next game with Quinnipiac. Kentucky hasn’t missed a beat either, sitting at 9-2. All 3 of Florida’s losses have come against Power 5 opponents in Virginia, Baylor, and Wake Forest.

Florida is led by Iona transfer Walter Clayton in scoring. Clayton averages 15.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. Florida has another key transfer making big contributions is his 1st season in Gainesville. Seton Hall transfer Tyrese Samuel is 2nd on the team in scoring with 14.6 points per game. Samuel also averages 8.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
The Gators have a chance to redeem themselves against a ranked opponent after falling short against Baylor 95-91 earlier in the year. Tipoff will be at 12:30 p.m. ET on ESPN from Gainesville.
