Florida added some size to its men’s basketball program this week as the Gators on Wednesday announced they had signed 6-foot-11 forward/center Alex Condon out of Perth, Australia, to its 2023 freshman class, head coach Todd Golden announced.

Golden said the Centre of Excellence program in Australia has a great track record of producing top Australian talent like Andrew Bogut, Joe Ingles, and a few of his former college teammates, including Patty Mills.

“He’s a great athlete and competitor, and will lift the competitive spirit within our program. We are excited to see how he impacts the team moving forward,” Golden said.

Basketball Australia’s Centre for Excellence, which partners with the NBA Global Academy, also counts Matthew Dellavedova, Dante Exum and Luc Longley among its alumni. Josh Giddey is the NBA Global Academy’s first NBA Draft pick.

As the new Florida roster comes into focus, Condon joins fellow freshman signee Thomas Haugh and 3 transfers already in the fold for 2023-24, including EJ Jarvis, Micah Handlogten and Walter Clayton Jr.
