Florida fans were in a great mood following the Gators’ 29-26 win over No. 7 Utah on Saturday, and even though another big-time win came from a fierce rival, the conference as a whole looked great against the Pac-12 on Saturday.
Georgia demolished Oregon 49-3, and combined with the Utah loss, the Pac-12 got off to a rough start, especially in the context of the College Football Playoff.
Florida fans filing out of the Swamp enjoyed it, and delivered a deafening chant of “SEC! SEC!” to Utah fans in celebration.
While it may be debatable where Utah stands in the national rankings, the Utes were expected to be the Pac-12 favorites, and are easily among the elite teams in their conference.

It continues a troubling trend for the Pac-12 in Week 1 against the SEC. After Saturday, the conference dropped to 1-8 in its last 9 Week 1 games against the SEC, per ESPN. Seven of those Pac-12 losses were ranked teams.

USC and UCLA leave for the Big Ten, then #7 Utah loses to unranked Florida and #11 Oregon puts up one of the worst performances ever from a ranked team.
This is truly rock bottom for the Pac 12.

But it’s significant, because Utah is a top 3 pac 12 team. Just goes to show that the pac 12 is in shambles.
