Florida Gators forward Alex Fudge has declared for the 2023 NBA Draft.

The sophomore from Jacksonville announced his decision on social media Monday, adding that he will be giving up his remaining college eligibility. Fudge spent the 2021-22 season at LSU before transferring to Florida, where he appeared in 32 games with 11 starts last season.

“I am excited to begin the journey of pursuing my dream of becoming a professional basketball player inside the National Basketball Association,” he said.

The 6-foot-9 Fudge averaged 5.8 points and 4.5 rebounds a game this past season for the Gators. He ranked second on the team in both blocks and rebounds per game. He had double-doubles twice on the year and had 5 double-digit scoring efforts. As a freshman with the Tigers, Fudge averaged 3.3 points and 3.2 rebounds in 29 appearances.

Fudge is an athletic forward with a 7-foot wingspan. For his career, he has averaged 1.5 steals and 1.6 blocks per 40 minutes on the court, giving him some defensive versatility that could be attractive to teams later in the draft.

He does not appear in the latest mock draft from ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.

The NBA Draft Combine is scheduled to take place May 15-21 in Chicago. The 2023 NBA Draft begins on June 22.
