For those Florida Gator fans clamoring for the firing of Will Muschamp after the Gators’ 42-21 loss against Alabama last weekend, they won’t get the resolution they seek until at least until after the season, if at all.

Florida Gators athletic director Jeremy Foley appeared on 790 The Game’s Open Mike show in Orlando and discussed his head coach situation.

“You never judge or evaluate a program based on one game or one season,” Foley said about his evaluation process. “That’s just not how we do things here. We’re going to evaluate where we’re headed – where the players are, how is recruiting going, what type of staff we have, are better?

Outside of the Gators’ 11-2 season in 2012, Muschamp has been largely unsuccessful in Gainesville with a combined record of just 13-15. Despite being a two-score underdog against Alabama, Muschamp certainly didn’t do himself any favors with a less than impressive outing against the Crimson Tide. The Gators managed to accumulate just 200 total yards of offense and the defense allowed a school-record 645 total yards. Not a good look for a defensive-minded coach like Muschamp.

Foley added he won’t think about evaluating Muschamp until the season has played itself out.

“[Our progress] is going to be plain for all of us to see, but it’s also going to be played out over the course of 11 games, and we’ll see where we are when we get to the end of the season.”

The Gators are off this week before traveling to Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Volunteers on Oct. 4.
