Florida lands commitment from 4-star 2020 ATH out of Louisiana
The Florida Gators had a rough go of it on the recruiting trails a couple of weeks ago, but their luck is turning around this weekend.
After landing a 3-star tight end from Tampa on Saturday, the Gators added a commitment from a 4-star athlete out of Baton Rouge on Sunday.
As you can see in the Twitter post below, DB/WR Joel Williams announced he was committing to the Gators for the 2020 season and beyond:
I’ll never look back…I’m trying to feed my family forever….

Per the 247Sports composite, Williams is the No. 13 athlete in the class of 2020 and the No. 9 overall recruit from the state of Louisiana.
The Gators now have 12 players in their 2020 class. Prior to his commitment, that class ranked No. 7 in the nation and No. 4 in the SEC, per 247Sports.

Are we allowed to celebrate this pick up?
Not until December 18th, 2019. Fake news until then.
Keep building the momentum until August 24th!
A 3* and a 4* means the recruiting tide is turning? OK.
Do you just like to behave like a child in your freetime?
*free time
Doo sh
These dawg fans have got really pathetic.
Yes Sir!!!
Did you know Georgia only has one National Championship? From 1980?!?! Talk about a team getting all they can out of all those 5*s, aka ‘Show Puppies’…
Did you know that UGA has twice as many national championships as Florida? Talk about putting your foot in your mouth like your douche head coach…. Ooops…
Wait what…
3*2 is 1?? Your math is astounding. What should I expect from a UGA grad tho.
Wow this dude dosen’t even know how many nattys his team has!!!!! UGA has 2, UF 3, you fu@kin loser.
More UGA math…14019 and still counting!!
Man gator fans are pathetic “celebrating” getting a 4 star commit. What a bunch of losers to bad its not a five star. -(UGA fans)
A 4 star with Mullen’s development is better off than a 5 star being developed by Kirby. If UGA doesn’t win it all this year, the 5 star guys will start to see him for the fraud that he is.
The overwhelming majority of 5 stars recruited by Smart to UGA are rising juniors and sophomores. Smart is only going into his 4th year as UGA’s head coach. Plus position coaches have more of an impact that head coaches in the direct development of a player.
Name three 5 star players who have shown improvement during their time at UGA. I can name one – D’Andre Swift.
Define “improvement”.
Pretty much the entire offensive line, Sony Michel, Nick Chubb, Jake Fromm, Richard LeCounte, D’Andre Swift, Mecole Hardman, Isaac Nauta (MUCH better blocker than when he arrived), Roquan Smith, all at a minimum off the top of my head. The much easier question is who came into Athens as a 5-star and won’t make it to the pros due to lack of development?
Sure. While it’s still early (with a large amount being rising sophomores), here are a few: Isaiah Wilson, Cade Mays, Adam Anderson, Brenton Cox. I think narrowly focusing on 5 stars, while ignoring the many 4 star players that have improved greatly, underscores how hard you are reaching to make an unsupportable point.
And Deandre Baker was a 3-star. First round pick. All-American and Thorpe Award winner. The previous year Kirby produced the Butkus Award winner and another consensus All-American. But Kirby’s a fraud. The more I think about that ridiculous, football-ignorant statement, the more I laugh. Football’s not for everyone. Maybe GatorFan needs to go back to rasslin’.
Where is that douche nozzle Corch – whatever his name is? I wanted to see how his job search was going.
Sweetie, your obsession is just sad.
How did the Want Ads go? Have any luck? The weather is getting hot, you could drive an ice cream truck. Then again you’d be around children …so probably not a good idea. You could get a paper route in the meantime. Get paid for riding your bike – how cool is that! Anyway, I’m rooting for you big guy.
Williams is an espn300, and has show possible upside with his measurable stats. While he looks like a better fit at CB, it’ll be interesting to see if Mullen gives him a shot at WR.
There you go, ‘turds! A 4-star player, as a blue chip, is actually worthy of a little celebration!
I mean, y’all still have ZERO 5-star players on your team and zero 5-star commits, but sure, celebrate like it’s going out of style! Celebrate while you can. The butt whuppin’ you’re due on November 2ns will be here before you know it!
I’m recommending the paper route thing. You can even get tips! Honest way to make money while you figure out your career. Moms basement would still have to do for now until you can afford your own place but at least you’ll be earning an income. Where all behind you bud! Hang in there!
You think a bike will be able to hold his weight?
LOL I picture him as a fat, dirty slob as well
Until December 18, 2019 – I view this as Fake News.
