Malik Reneau, a 6-foot-9 power forward out of Hialeah, Florida (Montverde Academy) has committed to Florida basketball for the class of 2022.
Reneau is the Gator’s first commitment of the class, and chose Florida over Florida State, Memphis and Miami. He has one year of high school remaining. He’s the No. 6 power forward in this class, and the No. 43 player nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite.
“They’ve been recruiting me for a long time. It’s family with them,” he told Only Gators. “They’ve just been there for a while, and it’s really a family-type of vibe for me.”
Only Gators reported that Reneau would be the highest-rated post player to sign with the Gators since Chris Walker (Class of 2013) if he follows through on his verbal pledge.
He averaged 17.2 points and 8.5 rebounds this summer while playing on the Nike EYBL tour.
