Florida loses commitment from 4-star 2024 running back
Florida is now starting over with it’s 2024 recruiting class after losing its only commit on Tuesday.
That player, 4-star RB Jerrick Gibson out of Jonesboro, Georgia, had been committed to the Gators since July of 2021, at which time Dan Mullen was the head coach and Greg Knox was the RB coach.
On Tuesday morning, Gibson took to Twitter to thank the Gators, but added that he has decided to decommit from the program:
First of all I would like to thank Coach Mullen and Coach Knox for blessing me with my first D1 offer and opportunity to play for the Florida Gators. With that being said I've decided to de-commit from the University of Florida. Please respect my decision

Per the 247Sports rankings, Gibson is a 4-star running back. He’s the No. 16 player in the 2024 cycle, the No. 1 running back and the No. 4 player from the state of Georgia.
With a long time still left in his recruiting process, it is possible Billy Napier and his staff eventually draw Gibson back to the Florida program. But, for now, he’s exploring his other options.
