Florida lost a key recruit from its 2024 recruiting class on Sunday evening.

4-star cornerback Wardell Mack flipped his commitment from Florida to Texas. He had been committed to the Gators since August.

Here’s his announcement:

Texas is set to join the SEC in 2024 along with Oklahoma. The Longhorns and Gators are set to face off next season in Austin. A return trip to Gainesville could be on the table for Mack and the Longhorns during his collegiate career as well.

Mack is a tremendous loss for Florida in the class of 2024. He’s currently ranked as the No. 129 overall player and the No. 12 cornerback in the country for this cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Florida is now down to 20 commitments in the class of 2024. The Gators still do have 3 defensive backs committed in this class — a group that is headlined by 5-star cornerback Xavier Filsaime. Overall, UF’s 2024 recruiting class currently sits at No. 4 nationally according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
