Florida has done a really good job in recent weeks of continuing to battle after the 2024 season looked like it was going to be a lost cause.
The Gators started out at 1-2, but have won 3 of their last 4 games with their lone loss during that streak being an overtime road loss at Tennessee. In their most recent game, the Gators beat Kentucky 48-20.
Despite the much better play as of late, Florida did get some bad news on the recruiting trail Monday as 4-star defensive lineman Joseph Mbatchou announced on social media he was opening up his recruitment.

“After deep thought and prayer, I have decided to reopen my recruitment,” Mbatchou announced on X. “I’d like to think the entire staff at the University of Florida, and can’ wait to get back down there. I’m excited to finish this journey from a new perspective.”
Mbatchou is ranked as the No. 41 DL prospect in the class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, and the No. 53 prospect in Georgia.
While he is no longer committed to Florida, the Gators aren’t completely off his list. He posted that he would decide in December between Texas, USC, Michigan, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn and Florida.
There is still time for Florida to get him committed again, and how the Gators close out the year will definitely influence how they are able to recruit. Florida is off this weekend, and then will play Georgia on November 2.
