On his weekly radio, Florida coach Jim McElwain recapped UF’s 27-3 win over Georgia and previewed Saturday’s matchup with Vanderbilt.

On his first Florida-Georgia game in Jacksonville:

“Prettiest thing I saw all game was midway through the third (quarter), looking across the field and (Georgia’s) stands were empty.”

On keeping QB Treon Harris in the game up 27-3 instead of brining in backup QB Josh Grady:

It’s something we talk about. We actually wanted Treon to get a little work in our four-minute offense. … He hasn’t had much of an opportunity to work the clock in a win-it situation. Josh is ready to go. He had a good week at practice.”

More on Grady, a Vanderbilt transfer:

He is a guy that came in here as a graduate student…He energized our summer workouts, really brought our guys together.”

On Vanderbilt’s defense:

They’re really good, No. 22 in the nation. They’re keeping people out of the end zone. It’s unbelievable for how many times they have had short yardage. They’re not giving up touchdowns, only 18 points per game. (Vandy coach Derek Mason) has done a heck of a job there. … Derek took over the play-calling this year as head coach and you can see his influence on it. We went back and broke down his last year of calling plays, 2013 a Stanford team that went to the Rose Bowl. You can see a lot of similarities.”

On WR Antonio Callaway’s 66-yard touchdown against Georgia:

It was actually a scramble drill. We were able to make a big play on them. They didn’t have any depth in their coverage and Treon saw that.”

On RB Jordan Scarlett, who had 96 yards against Georgia:

“He’s definitely done a really good job these last three weeks. I think he’s a guy that kind of had a coming out party (against UGA). …We need to be able to spell Kelvin and keep him fresh. Look forward to a lot more playing time for (Scarlett).”

On issues in the kicking game:

We’ll probably give the fourth-year dental student (walk-on K Neil MacInness) a shot this week (kicking field goals)…I hope he drills it.”

On Callaway’s impact in his freshman season:

“He’s been a huge influence. We felt we had something special when we started recruiting him. He was our No. 1 target at that position. (LB coach) Randy (Shannon) did a great job of going down there and building that relationship in a short period of time.”
