Florida OC shares his thoughts on Del Rio's future heading into the fall
With Tuesday’s news that Florida QB Luke Del Rio would have another shoulder surgery — this time on his throwing shoulder — many Gator fans assumed that meant the starting job for 2017 season would come down to redshirt freshmen Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask.
However, offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier thinks Del Rio will still be in the mix once the fall season gets underway:
#Gators OC Doug Nussmeier asked if he thinks Luke Del Rio will be in starting QB battle this fall. "I do," he said

Del Rio missed a few games due to injury last season, but still threw for 1,358 yards and eight touchdowns.
Even if Del Rio is healthy this fall, though, missing out on the spring reps may force him out of the starting mix anyway. If either of the redshirt freshmen shine this spring, Del Rio may be the odd man out this summer.
