Florida tight ends coach William Peagler is expected to accept a role with the Arizona Cardinals, per a report.

That’s according to On3’s Matt Zenitz, who notes that the Cardinals are also hiring Florida co-defensive coordinator Patrick Toney.

Peagler just finished his 1st season in Gainesville. He was hired to coach tight ends by Bill Napier last offseason. Previously, he was the running backs coach at Michigan State.

Florida’s tight end group was solid in 2022, but it was not a major focal point of the passing offense. Keon Zipperer led all tight ends with 13 receptions. He also went for a career-high 177 yards and scored 1 touchdown.

Peagler, 37, has never worked in the NFL before prior to accepting this job with the Cardinals.

Elsewhere on the coaching staff, Florida is reportedly moving quickly to replace Toney. The Gators are targeting Alabama linebackers coach Austin Armstrong for the role, per multiple reports. Armstrong joined Alabama’s staff this offseason after previously serving as Southern Miss’ defensive coordinator.
