Florida players erupt in celebration after Dan Mullen surprises walk-on with a scholarship
September 27 will be a day that Marco Ortiz never forgets.
The Florida long snapper, on the heels of grading out at 100 percent in 9 plays in a 38-14 win against Tennessee on Saturday night, was awarded a full scholarship Monday by Gators head coach Dan Mullen.
Mullen made the announcement during a team meeting, and Ortiz’ s teammates exploded into celebration, as you can see in the video below.

It’s a moment the 6-4, 233-pound junior from Richmond, Virginia, will never forget.
Ortiz and the Gators, now 3-1 overall and 1-1 in SEC play, will be back in action on Saturday with a road game at 4-0 Kentucky.
