Florida’s arena, Exactech Arena, is about to undergo significant changes. Florida is reportedly budgeting $7 million for renovations for the future, according to a report by Graham Hall of Swamp247.

The money will go toward renovating or repairing the roof. The university wants to construct a roof that is “solar ready,” per Hall, who obtained a project fact sheet.

Per 247Sports’ report, the budget will go almost entirely toward replacing the roof and roof area, which is in need of replacement. The project is scheduled to begin in August 2023, with a construction period of 65 weeks. The final completion is scheduled for January 2025, though construction plans have not been finalized yet.

The roof was initially constructed with inflatable Teflon that required a system of blowers to keep the roof in place during events. The roof became too costly and was replaced with its current roof in 1998.
