Demarkcus Bowman is reportedly exploring a second transfer. The Florida running back, a former 5-star recruit, has reportedly entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal for the second time in his career.
Bowman, out of Lakeland (Florida), was a 5-star recruit in the class of 2020. He signed with Clemson over 16 other offers. Bowman played in 2 games for the Tigers, posting 32 rushing yards on 9 carries before entering his name into the NCAA transfer portal on Oct. 1, 2020. After just 2 days in the transfer portal, Bowman announced his plans to transfer to Florida.
Bowman appeared in 5 games during Florida’s 2021 season, logging 14 carries for 81 yards.
Bowman was considered a redshirt freshman in 2021. If Bowman transfers, he would need a waiver for NCAA eligibility in the 2022 season.
Nay’Quan Wright, entering his junior year, had 76 carries for 326 yards and a touchdown last season. The Gators also return Lorenzo Lingard, a former 5-star recruit entering his senior season. First-year head coach Billy Napier added Louisiana transfer Montrell Johnson and 4-star recruit Trevor Etienne to the 2022 roster.
