Florida shares preview of new LED lights in The Swamp
Florida fans will notice a new feature in The Swamp for the Week 2 home opener.
A Saturday evening social media post from the team account offered a preview of new LED lights that have been added to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The clip briefly shows the lights coloring the stands orange and blue.

The LED lights are part of a massive renovation project. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium was originally constructed in 1930, and UF is planning a “significant transformation” with a $400 million project.
“We’ve conducted a number of studies over the last five-plus years about what the future could look like for Ben Hill Griffin Stadium,” Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin said in July. “We’ve engaged with vendors that specialize in iconic venues and stadium experience for both fans and players while offering a variety of solutions. It is now time to take that information and engage with an architect who can present renovation, construction and phasing options for The Swamp.”
Florida plays McNeese on Saturday for its home opener. The 7:30 p.m. kickoff allows for the new lights to be on display. ESPNU is set to televise the game.
Billy Napier’s Gators are looking to snap a 4-game losing streak. UF dropped its final 3 games to end the 2022 campaign with a 6-7 record. On Thursday, Florida fell to No. 14 Utah 24-11 in Salt Lake City.
