Florida is up against elimination at the Women’s College World Series after getting shut out by Oklahoma State Saturday. Though the Gators engineered some chances, they were not able to score.

On the mound for the Cowboys, Kelly Maxwell was dominant. At one point, she set down 15 Gators in a row and was cruising. Maxwell finished all 7 innings with 3 hits and 2 walks allowed while striking out 9.

Florida’s best chance to score came in the top of the first inning. In the top of the first, the Gators put the first two batters on but were promptly set down with a pair of flyouts and a groundout. Florida did have a runner on in the seventh inning but was unable to get much going.

Now, the path to the WCWS Finals becomes incredibly difficult for the Gators. Florida will next face UCLA at 3 pm ET on Sunday in a do-or-die situation. Should the Gators beat the Bruins, they would advance to face top-seed Oklahoma on Monday needing two wins to advance.
