Florida strength coach delivers great quote about his training philosophy
Florida is holding its media day on Tuesday as it prepares to open fall camp ahead of the 2022 season.
Coach Billy Napier and several players spoke with media members, but new strength and conditioning coach Mark Hocke had perhaps the line of the day when discussing his training philosophy.
Hocke quipped that “you can’t train gladiators by pillow fighting” when talking about his approach to getting the Gator players ready for the grueling SEC season:
Quote of the day from @coachmhocke – 'You can't train gladiators by pillow fighting.'

#Gators strength/conditioning Mark Hocke drops a nugget of philosophy: "You can't train gladiators by pillow fighting."

Will that philosophy and hard-nosed approach lead to more wins on the gridiron for the Gators? The team finished a disappointing 6-7 in 2021.
Napier will be eager to make an impact immediately this fall to show the program is heading in the right direction.
Love it.
I would think every strength coach would say something like that.
I miss the Beast Savage comments…Mark Hocke just doesn’t have the same ring…
Lol
If you fill the pillow cases with rocks, I think you absolutely can train a gladiator with a pillow fight.
Just saying.
Agree
