Florida suffered a decommitment from a recruit who’d been committed to the Gators since September.

Darren Lawrence, a 3-star 2023 wide receiver out of Sanford, Florida (Seminole) announced the change in plans on Sunday. He has a reported 12 offers, and is ranked as the No. 66 wide receiver in this class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s listed as a 6-foot-2, 190-pounder.

“I would like to thank (Florida) for the opportunity to realize my childhood dreams. At this time though I believe it is in my best interest to reopen my recruitment. I welcome any opportunity to further my academic and athletic career,” Lawrence wrote on social media.

He was the fourth commitment under former coach Dan Mullen’s staff, and at the time of his commitment held offers from schools that included Miami, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Louisville and Michigan State. The Gators are down to one recruit for the 2023 class, Aaron Gates, a 4-star ATH, out of Sharpsburg, Georgia.
