Florida’s offense will get one playmaker back for 2018.

WR Dre Massey made the announcement Thursday that he will indeed return to the Gators next season. Massey contributed 10 catches for 143 yards this season, but those numbers alone do not tell the full story.

Massey’s average of 14.3 yards per catch ranked third on the Gators this season. As fans certainly remember, Florida’s offense was especially brutal this year as the Gators were unable to find any consistency for large stretches of the season. When Florida was able to get the ball to Massey, good things happened.

Keeping Massey should not be overlooked as he does have potential. The right QB in an effective system under new head coach Dan Mullen could result in improved numbers for the speedster. He was also used in the kick return game with five kickoff returns for 70 yards this year.
