Florida will be losing multiple wide receivers in 2020. Trevon Grimes won’t be one of them.

On Wednesday, Grimes announced on Twitter that he plans to return to the Gators for his senior season. That’s big for Florida, which will be losing Tyrie Cleveland, Josh Hammond, Van Jefferson and Freddie Swain to graduation.

Grimes should have an opportunity to earn a starting job next season. This year, he had 33 receptions for 491 yards and three touchdowns.

After beginning his career at Ohio State, Grimes transferred to Florida prior to the start of the 2018 season. He then had 26 receptions for 364 yards and two touchdowns in his first season with the Gators.

In Grimes’ last game of the season, he had only one reception for seven yards in Florida’s Orange Bowl win over Virginia on Monday. However, he could post bigger numbers next season when he’ll likely have increased opportunities.

Grimes already had decent NFL draft stock, and another year with the Gators — one that could be his best — could improve it for 2021.
