Florida's offense has been historically bad since Tim Tebow left
Since Tim Tebow left Gainesville after the 2009 football season, Florida’s offense has been, well, terrible.
When Tebow was the quarterback and current Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen was the offensive coordinator, things ran quite smoothly.
The Gators were No. 1 in the SEC in total offense in 2008 and 2009, averaging well over 400 yards per game in each of those seasons. Florida’s scoring offense ranked No. 1 in the conference in ’08 and No. 2 a year later. Life was good.
But since then, as ESPN’s David Hale points out, Florida has failed to reach 250 yards of offense on 22 occasions, which is the second-highest number in that regard in the Power Five.
Here’s how the Gators’ offense stacks up against other awful offenses around the country:
Since Tebow left, Florida has failed to reach 250 yds of offense TWENTY TWO times, 2nd most in P5. Compare UF talent to similarly bad Os… pic.twitter.com/WhU9FKy6BS
