Former Florida defender gets 7th year of eligibility, eyeing potential transfer to LSU

Former Florida DL Justus Reed’s time with the Gators was marred by injury.
Eventually, he transferred to the FCS level to play for Bo Pelini at Youngstown State and, finally healthy in 2019, he became a breakout star. Last year, he recorded 42 tackles and 12.5 sacks.
Now, after the NCAA has granted him a seventh year of eligibility, he’s looking to transfer for his final season. And, since Pelini is on his way to LSU, Reed said he’s considered following his coach (via 247Sports):
“I’ve floated the idea of going with Bo to LSU,” Reed said. “Obviously I’m open to all options. But I’d love to go play for Bo and play for a program like that and have exposure like that. … We’ve talked a little bit about it. He’s got a lot going on over there and they’re going to try and settle everything down. Before anybody makes any more decisions, I want to see how everything is over there.”
A seventh year of eligibility is almost unheard of, as Reed will be 24 during this upcoming 2020 season.
Will he be playing for Pelini again at LSU or end up somewhere else? We’ll find out in the next few weeks or months, probably.
