This offseason, Florida OC Brian Johnson left the Gators to head to the NFL.

He was hired by the Philadelphia Eagles, where he’ll serve as the team’s QB coach in 2021, working with former Alabama and Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts.

On Tuesday, while speaking with the media, Johnson explained that he couldn’t pass up an opportunity to make the jump to the NFL ranks (via 247Sports):

“I think the biggest thing is this is the highest level of football,” Johnson said. “I’m just excited for a new challenge and I felt at this point of my career, myself and my family, it was a great decision, a chance to make the jump to the highest level of football. We’re excited to be here.”

Johnson is part of a new coaching staff under first-year Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni.

Now, we’ll see if he can get the most out of Hurts this fall.
