Van Jefferson is headed back closer to home, and closer to the Gators.

The former Florida star was reportedly traded on Tuesday from the Los Angeles Rams to the Atlanta Falcons, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. The trade involves a pick swap of sixth- and seventh-round picks in the 2025 draft.

Jefferson saw diminished playing time, especially since Cooper Kupp returned to the lineup and Puka Nacua emerged as a key contributor. In Sunday’s loss to the Eagles, Jefferson played just 2 snaps and didn’t see a target. Coach Sean McVay deflected questions about Jefferson’s lack of playing time, but this appeared to be coming for a while.

In 2019, Jefferson’s 49 catches for 657 yards and 6 touchdowns were good enough to get him picked No. 57 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.

He came out of college with 2 productive seasons at Florida after he transferred from Ole Miss.

His best NFL season came in 2021 when he started 17 games and caught 50 passes for 802 yards and 6 touchdowns.
