One of the main questions for Anthony Richardson and the Indianapolis Colts is how the former Florida quarterback will work with veteran Gardner Minshew.

How they mesh together could go a long way in determining how Richardson’s career unfolds with the Colts. But as first impressions go, Richardson has shown plenty of potential to Minshew, especially in terms of run-pass options.

“I’ve been really impressed,” Minshew said, per James Boyd. “A lot of times, the bigger guys with the big arms aren’t as quick with some of the RPO stuff and the underneath (stuff). … His feet are very quick, and I think he gets the ball out and can process fast.”

Minshew explained how Richardson mixes his physical attributes with willingness to improve.

“Obviously, the first thing is just how impressive the ball jumps out of his hand,” Minshew says. “Physically, he’s got everything you want. Then getting around him and seeing how he works, how he takes criticism, wants to learn and get better, all those things are really, really encouraging.”

While Minshew is a veteran, he recalled his rookie season, and adjustment to the NFL.

“Really one of the only ways to get better as a quarterback is to play,” Minshew said. “So getting that experience is huge. Going out there seeing looks, feeling the speed, something you really can’t replicate in any other way, it’s huge. Just getting any type of experience, any type of game snaps, is really, really important.”
