Florida recently reportedly hired former Syracuse head coach Paul Pasqualoni, to its staff and he’ll serve as the “special assistant to the head coach.”

The Gators have made another staff hire, too. Former Arkansas and Louisville assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Garrick McGee is joining Florida’s staff, per a report from The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman. While McGee’s experience has been on the offensive side of the ball, he’ll serve as a defensive analyst for coordinator Todd Grantham. The Florida defensive coordinator and McGee coached together on Louisville’s staff.

McGee brings a wealth of experience to Grantham and his defensive staff. He served as an analyst on Missouri’s 2019 staff. Notable stops for McGee include the Jacksonville Jaguars, Northwestern, Arkansas and Louisville throughout his long career. He also served as UAB’s head coach from 2012-13. He finished with a 5-19 record.

The assistant coach also played quarterback in college at Arizona State (1991-92), Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (1993) and Oklahoma (1994-95).
