Florida gets a chance to shake off the recent disappointment of losses to Florida State and Alabama by getting a high-profile opponent in its bowl game.

The Gators (10-3) will take on Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines (9-3) in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl in Orlando on Jan. 1. The game is at 1 p.m.

Florida has only played in the Orlando bowl game once in the past 15 years (2007, losing to Michigan 41-35).

It’s the first Florida bowl game for first-year coach Jim McElwain, of course. During his three years at Colorado State, he qualified for two bowls, but didn’t coach the second one last year after being hired by Florida.

In the Will Muschamp era from 2011 to 2014, the Gators won two of their three bowl trips (the Gators weren’t eligible in 2013 and Muschamp didn’t coach the 2014 game after being fired). The Gators beat Ohio State in the Gator Bowl at the end of the 2011 season but lost to Louisville 33-23 in the Sugar Bowl the following year.

Missouri beat Minnesota 33-17 in the Citrus Bowl last year.
