Billy Napier got arguably the best win of his career at Florida so far Saturday night, taking down Tennessee in convincing fashion.

Many have been quick to praise the Gators, and ESPN’s Greg McElroy applauded Napier and his team on his show Always College Football.

“What a huge win for Billy Napier,” McElroy said. “He was very, very confident all week. Talking to people around the program, it felt like they had a really good opportunity sitting right in front of them.”

Florida was dominant on the line of scrimmage, amassing 183 yards on the ground and gave up just 100 to the Vols, who have been solid in the run game so far this season.

“If you look at how they were able to control the line of scrimmage, a ton of missed tackles from Tennessee,” McElroy said. “And they came into that game as one of the most disruptive defensive fronts, but we wondered, was it more about Tennessee or was it more about the competition that they were playing against. Clearly, it was the latter.”

The win has the chance to ignite a Florida team that struggled last year and didn’t seem to be heading in the right direction this year. Now the Gators have a signature win under their belt and the chance to put together a solid season.
