Greg McElroy wants Anthony Richardson to get back to what he did in Week 1 that garnered national attention after the upset win over No. 7 Utah.

Richardson the last 2 weeks has had just 13 carries for 28 yards, while he had 11 carries for 106 yards and 3 touchdowns against Utah. Not to mention a long run in the last 2 games of 16 yards.

“They need to find something for him to make him feel a little more comfortable,” McElroy said. “… Played poorly the last couple of weeks, there’s no denying it, and needs to get back to doing what he does well. Has not been very accurate with the football, has not made great decisions. The craziest thing is I don’t think he’s run the ball well the last couple of weeks either.”

McElroy believes the Florida coaching staff needs to get Richardson’s confidence back because he hasn’t looked anything like he did against Utah.

“The talent’s there, but now it’s hard to play quarterback when you don’t have confidence in yourself to be able to play the position at a high level,” McElroy said.

McElroy was asked if he’ll throw his first touchdown pass against Tennessee this week, and he said Richardson will need to in order to keep pace with the Tennessee offense.
