Former Florida defender Taven Bryan is in a “prove it” year, but he’s having trouble getting on the field. The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Tuesday that Bryan has been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19, indicating he was either in close contact with someone who has the virus or tested positive himself.

The COVID list news comes after Bryan was previously placed on the team’s non-football injury list. According to Big Cat Country, Bryan “has not been visibly present on the practice field for the majority of camp thus far.”

It is a bad time for Bryan to be missing camp. Earlier this year, the Jaguars declined his fifth-year option for 2022. His roster spot in Jacksonville for the 2021 season has recently been described as potentially “in jeopardy.”

Bryan was selected No. 29 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. In three seasons, he has played 48 games, recorded 69 total tackles, including 3.5 sacks.
