Jalen Kitna saw 5 counts of felony child pornography charges dropped Wednesday after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors, a report from Edgar Thompson of the Sun Sentinel says.

Kitna, the son of former NFL QB Jon Kitna, was arrested and charged with 5 felony child pornography charges on Nov. 30 of 2022, including 2 counts of distribution and 3 counts of possession.

As part of the plea deal Wednesday, Kitna pled guilty to reduced misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and will have to serve 6 months’ probation for each count. According to a report from the Associated Press, Kitna will not have to register as a sex offender.

A report from the Gainesville police department revealed that Kitna shared 2 sexually explicit photos on Discord prior to his arrest. Kitna later said he believed the those in the pictures were of legal age and admitted he should not have shared them based on the reaction of who he shared them with.

According to a report from the Orlando Sun Sentinel, a later investigation did not turn up any additional evidence against Kitna.

Kitna released a statement following the plea deal Wednesday:

“I want to start off by apologizing to my family, my friends and those that care about me,” he said. “Their support through this whole ordeal has meant a lot to me. The hardest thing about this whole process has been seeing how it’s affected them. The valuable lessons that I’ve learned through this whole deal have been very helpful. I’m looking forward to applying those things and moving forward.”

Kitna was banned from the University of Florida campus until November of 2025 and has been taking online classes since his November arrest.
