The Florida Gators escaped Saturday’s game with a win over Vanderbilt 38-24.

It wasn’t always pretty, but Jim McElwain’s boys found a way to get it done.

The Gators offense racked up 218 rushing yards and five rushing TDs in the win. A Florida RB hadn’t scored a rushing TD since the middle of last season. Seriously.

Here’s what Jim McElwain said after the game when interviewed by ESPN’s Tom Luginbill:

When asked about why RB Malik Davis didn’t go down on the last TD run: “We had a hammer call. We get the first down and go down, the game is over. Our defense came out and played. We’ll learn from that. Our guys battled our tail off. Vanderbilt played great.”

On coming from behind in close games: “That’s the way we’re built. We’re going to go enjoy this a little bit. We got a big ball game in The Swamp next week. Gators do okay in this kind of weather.”
