Florida has already suffered some attrition on its defensive line ahead of the 2020 season.

Four-star defensive tackle signee Johnnie Brown (Sebring, Florida) won’t enroll at Florida and is instead headed to Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Mississippi, according to a report by Rivals.com, who spoke with Brown.

This is a tough loss for Florida’s defense, as the 6-foot-2, 250-pound lineman is very athletic and could have made an early impact.

Brown signed with Florida in February on National Signing Day and was a part of a big defensive line haul for Dan Mullen and the Gators. Now, however, Brown enroll at JUCO on July 11. Obviously, Florida can still recruit Brown following his stint in junior college.

Brown was ranked as the nation’s No. 22 overall defensive tackle and the state of Florida’s No. 34 overall prospect, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He helped the Gators finish ranked in the top 10 for recruiting during the 2020 cycle.
