Dan Mullen once again has a full staff down in Gainesville.

The final piece of the puzzle for the 2021 season was made official on Monday as former South Florida assistant Jules Montinar was named as the program’s new cornerbacks coach and recruiting coordinator.

Montinar’s hire completes the overhaul of the program’s defensive backfield coaching staff as Ron English (safeties) and Torrian Gray (cornerbacks) coached for the Gators last season but won’t be returning in 2021.

Before arriving in Gainesville, Montinar served one season at USF as the program’s cornerbacks coach and recruiting coordinator. Prior to landing at USF, Montinar was a defensive quality control assistant at Georgia. Montinar also has experience coaching at Texas State (2016-18), James Madison (2014-15), Alabama (2012-13), Purdue (2011) and Eastern Kentucky (2008-09).

The Florida native was named 247Sports’ Sun Belt Recruiter of the Year during the 2017 recruiting cycle.

“We are excited to welcome Jules and his family to Florida,” Coach Mullen said. “His experience recruiting in the state and familiarity in the conference will be a huge asset to our program.”
