Kevin Carter is fully on board with the Billy Napier era at Florida, and as a Gators alumnus, Carter is well aware of the type of team coming to the Swamp to open the season.

That’s why Carter took a leap during a recent segment on CBS Sports Network, and predicted that Utah, which is a somewhat popular pick to make the College Football Playoff as the No. 4 team, would go down in its game against Florida.

Utah is the favorite to win the Pac-12, and is ranked No. 7 in the preseason AP Top 25 poll.

“You guys are all gonna disagree with me okay, but I’m gonna go to Utah, the Utes,” Carter said. “And here are all the reasons why I’m wrong. Okay, they’re a tough team up front along the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. They’re No. 1 in the Pac-12 in defense and No. 1 defensive tackles for loss. The quarterback, Cameron Rising, he’s a dangerous dual threat playmaker. Running back Tavion Thomas had 1,100 yards last season, and the Utes may just end up a top of the Pac-12 by season’s end. But I don’t see them right now as the No. 7 or 8 team in the country, because they’re going to lose Week 1 to the Florida Gators. The Gators are easily, arguably, the fourth or fifth best team in the SEC.”
