Keyontae Johnson, a forward on the Florida men’s basketball team who has recovered from collapsing on the court during a game more than a year ago, has reportedly entered the transfer portal.

The news about Johnson came from Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports.

Johnson was expected to graduate from Florida this spring.

The 2020 preseason SEC player of the year, Johnson has not played since Dec. 12, 2020, when he collapsed on the court at Florida State. Johnson was hospitalized for 8 days and placed in a medically-induced coma. Johnson has remained close to the team, taking on an unofficial student assistant role, which earned him the nickname “Coach Key.” At the end of the regular season, Kentucky and Florida arranged to allow Johnson on the court in the starting lineup for UF’s Senior Day. Johnson received the opening tip, dribbled and then kissed the court before exiting the game.

Two seasons ago, Johnson made his impact largely from the sidelines as he contributed in film, scout and on-court instruction as a respected voice among his teammates and the coaching staff.

More recently, Johnson was accused of a sexual assault in reports that surfaced about a month ago. His attorney said at the time that once the facts come out, he was confident that charges would not be filed.
