Kyle Pitts rang in National Tight Ends day in proper fashion with an early touchdown in the Falcons’ Sunday matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The former Florida tight end scored the first touchdown of the day for either team with a big reception from quarterback Kirk Cousins in the first four minutes of the first quarter. It was a bit of a gutsy call to go for it on 4th-and-3, but clearly paid off on a well-thrown ball from Cousins and a solid catch from Pitts.

Here’s a look at the play:

It’s the kind of start the Falcons, who have found themselves in a lot of close games that come down to the wire this season, needed. And it provides a large sense of optimism as this game continues for a team that is having one of its best seasons in recent history so far, currently leading the NFC South.

The Falcons have a 24-17 lead at the half. Pitts’ first 2 receptions went for scores, and his first 85 yards. He has 4 catches for 91 yards and 2 touchdowns at the break.

If they come out on the right side of the win column in this game, they will have swept the Bucs after winning the first meeting of the 2024 season, 36-30 in overtime action.
