Lamar Jackson is a player that Anthony Richardson strives to emulate on the field during his rookie season in the NFL.

The former Florida quarterback is set to square off with the NFL MVP when the Indianapolis Colts take on the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday. When Jackson was told that the 21-year-old Richardson looks up to him, he had a funny response while also showing admiration.

“That me feel old and I’m only 26….I appreciate stuff like that,” Jackson said. “I did see him a couple times in college. He played phenomenal. His first 2 games, he has too.”

Richardson has passed for 279 yards, a touchdown, and an interception through his first 2 games as a pro. Richardson beat out Gardner Minshew and Sam Ehlinger for the starting gig on Aug. 15.

The Colts picked Richardson with the No. 4 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. The dynamic Richardson rated exceptionally at the combine, with a perfect Relative Athletic Score, joining Daunte Culpepper and Cam Newton as the only quarterbacks to do so.

Richardson completed 215 of his 393 passes for 3,105 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions as a Gator. Richardson also amassed 1,116 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.

One of Richardson’s most prolific performances at Florida came in a loss last season vs. Tennessee in which he passed for 453 yards, and 2 touchdowns, while also rushing for 62 yards and two scores.
