Every recruiting cycle, fans and media members are reminded that football recruits have a different definition for the word commitment. The latest example comes courtesy of Leonard Manuel, a 4-star wide receiver who committed to Florida in January.

Manuel, the No. 7 Florida product (Ocala Vanguard), No. 13 wide receiver and No. 66 recruit overall in the 2020 class, shared a list of his top seven schools Thursday via Twitter. He lists UF first and has yet to back off his pledge to Dan Mullen’s squad (at least publicly), but it’s clear that in-state rival Miami as well as SEC teams Georgia, LSU and Texas A&M are still in the mix to land Manuel’s signature when pen is put to paper.

Since his Jan. 14, 2019 commitment to the Gators, Manuel received an offer from Georgia Tech (Jan. 30), took an unofficial visit to Gainesville (Feb. 2), attended Miami’s Junior Day (March 24) and visited with Florida assistant Christian Robinson (April 22). If Manuel fully re-opens his recruitment, the six other schools will certainly work hard to land his commitment. Listed at 6-4, 200 pounds, Manuel is currently Florida’ highest-rated offensive commit.
