In Jacksonville with SEC Nation for “The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” between No. 6 Florida (7-1) and No. 8 Georgia (6-1), former LSU Tiger Marcus Spears commented on the state of the Gators’ offense.

Zach Goodall of Gator Maven shared some footage on Twitter:

Beginning the season as Florida’s starter, redshirt junior Feleipe Franks suffered a season-ending knee injury in the victory over Kentucky on September 14.

As Spears noted in the attached video, fellow redshirt junior Kyle Trask has taken the unit to a new level in Franks’ stead. Completing 67.5% of his passes, Trask has thrown for 1,391 yards, 14 touchdowns and just four interceptions in seven games.

The real star of the Florida team, however, is the defense. Allowing just 15.8 points per game, the Gators possess the nation’s 12th-best scoring defense.

Two of the SEC’s most storied programs, Florida and Georgia have met 96 times – according to the Gators – since 1915. Holding a 51-43-2 lead in the series, the Bulldogs have won two straight (2017-18).

Set to kick at 3:30PM ET from TIAA Bank Field, Saturday’s action will be broadcast as part of the SEC on CBS with Brad Nessler, Gary Danielson and Jamie Erdahl on the call.
