The San Francisco 49ers got the attention of football fans everywhere in March when they traded up to the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Most experts and fans expect San Francisco to draft a quarterback with that No. 3 pick. The betting favorite to selected by the 49ers is Alabama’s Mac Jones. ESPN’s Chris “The Bear” Fallica, however, believes San Francisco should look at another SEC standout.

“Why wouldn’t the 49ers draft Kyle Pitts and put him and Kittle on the field at the same time?” Fallica tweeted Saturday. “They added Trent Williams and were in Super Bowl two years ago with Jimmy G,” Fallica wrote on Twitter. “Why take a QB there is no guarantee will pan out when you can make your team a lot better with Pitts?”

Pitts is often described as a Kittle-like playmaker based on the way he was used in the passing game at Florida. It’s an interesting idea to potentially put both Kittle and Pitts in the same offense and give opposing defensive coordinators all kinds of headaches. Pro Day attendance by 49ers staffers, however, suggests San Francisco will stick with the plan to draft a quarterback instead of listening to The Bear’s suggestion.
