Peter Burns is a good sport.

Fans of the SEC Network are aware that for the past few years Burns and SEC This Morning co-host Chris Doering have made friendly bets on LSU-Florida.

Burns is an LSU fan. Doering is a Gator Great from Gainesville, wearing orange and blue at P.K. Yonge before playing for Steve Spurrier.

Heading into Saturday’s showdown in The Swamp, the LSU-Florida rivalry had been one-sided in the Tigers’ favor. Joe Burrow and Kyle Trask had an epic duel in 2019 that went to the eventual Heisman Trophy-winner and national champions. There was the infamous shoe throw game in 2020. Shortly before his firing, Ed Orgeron got one more win over the Gators in 2021. LSU came out on top of high-scoring affairs in Brian Kelly’s first 2 games against the Gators.

Saturday the streak was finally snapped, as Florida secured a 27-16 win. Doering may have celebrated more than any other member of Gator Nation.

For the past 5 years, Doering has had to pay up in hilarious ways. Who could forget Doering doing SEC This Morning as Chuckles the Clown two years ago? The best one might not have even been football-related. After LSU topped Florida in the College World Series, Doering sported a Tiger baseball uniform for his flight to SEC Media Days.

Monday, Doering and Burns finally got to experience what it’s like to be on the other side. Burns arrived to the show in a Gator band uniform.

We’ll see who has to dress up next year!
