Florida TE Kyle Pitts has been one of the biggest breakout stars this season in college football. Until the second half against South Carolina, he was averaging a touchdown for every quarter of action the Gators have played in this season.

Pitts is tied for the lead in America with six touchdowns, and is ninth in the country in receiving yards per game.

But Pitts, already a matchup problem, was especially effective out wide against South Carolina, where he had four catches on five targets and 10 routes. But he turned those into plays of 15-plus yards three times, and two touchdowns.

Pitts even did it against the Gamecocks above-average secondary as he drew extra attention and beat South Carolina’s top defensive back. He nearly made a one-handed catch in the third quarter, but the ball slipped off his left fingertips.

The Gators will travel to Kyle Field to play Texas A&M on Saturday. The Gators beat the Johnny Manziel-led Aggies in their last trip there in 2012.
