This is not the kind of record you want to set as a football team.

Florida punter Johnny Townsend has had a remarkable career no matter how you look at it, but setting this one record is more a reflection of how poor the Gators offense has been.

Townsend, a senior, broke the school record for punts in a career during Saturday’s game with punt number 232. Unfortunately for the Gators, that number speaks volumes to how ineffective the offense has been over the past four seasons.

What is impressive is that Townsend has averaged 48.5 yards a punt this season and 46.4 yards per punt in his career. Still, Florida fans would likely prefer the offense set records as opposed to the punter.
