The Florida Gators will play their first game of the Dan Mullen era on Saturday evening, but they’ll do so without some key players.
According to a report, seven (yes, seven) players will miss the game against Charleston Southern, including a couple of team leaders.
Per GatorCountry.com, DL CeCe Jefferson and WR Kadarius Toney are among those suspended for Saturday’s opener:
Seven players will not be available for Florida’s 2018 season opener for “not living up to the Gator standard,” sources told Gatorcountry.com.
Senior defensive lineman CeCe Jefferson, sophomore receiver Kadarius Toney, sophomore defensive lineman Kyree Campbell, redshirt junior defensive lineman Luke Ancrum, sophomore cornerback Brian Edwards, sophomore running back Adarius Lemons and walk on freshman James Washington will all miss the game.
How long their suspensions last — whether it’s just this game or longer — remains to be seen, but this isn’t a good look for the Gators.
We’ll have to see what Mullen says about the suspensions when Saturday evening’s game is over.
