Nothing official has been announced, but according to the Orlando Sentinel, it appears all signs point to Jim McElwain becoming the next head coach of the Florida Gators.

Per the Sentinel‘s report, a source told the newspaper that “CSU officials fully expect McElwain to be on the way to Florida after three seasons with the Rams.”

The biggest holdup in McElwain’s negotiations with Florida has been the $7.5 million buyout.

From the Sentinel:

The Coloradoan newspaper reported Wednesday UF was negotiating to reduce the buyout to $3 million, but the Sentinel’s source said it’s “not gonna happen” and there is substantially less wiggle room in reducing the buyout than some media have implied.

As of 2:52 ET, Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley departed Fort Collins, Colo., without McElwain on board and will return to Gainesville later this evening.
